- If you type say "NHAI projects in Maharashtra", it will return a list projects being set up by NHAI in Maharashtra, NHAI tenders, NHAI orders and media mention about NHAI.
- The search mechanism is largely based on proximity search, which looks for documents where two or more separately matching term occurrences are within a specified distance. This logic helps in avoiding documents or articles where the words in a search string are scattered.
- The search results are ranked for relevancy based on proximity of words in the search string. In the above case document (It is a denormalized database record flattened to look like as a document), having NHAI, Projects and Maharashtra as search words (‘in’ is removed as it is a DETERMINER / CONJUCTIONS).
- Documents having these 3 words next to each other will be given highest rank for relevancy, and rank will be reduce as the distance between these words increases. This logic doesn’t avoid articles where the words are scattered, they are just ranked lowest as the distance increase.
