Yamaha Motor Company aims to make India as its global sourcing hub.
The company intends to bring their latest technologies and new models in the country. Plans are afoot to export a third of the production supplied from Indian manufacturing units located at Noida, Faridabad and a new one coming up at Chennai.
India Yamaha Motor, a 100 per cent subsidiary of the company, is already setting up a Rs 1,500-crore new manufacturing base in India at Chennai. This will take the total installed capacity to 2.8 million units per annum. The facility is slated to be commissioned in January 2014.
