Siegwerk, a global leader in printing inks and coatings, has inaugurated its newly expanded and automated blending facility in Chakan, Pune, in response to the growing demand for water-based inks in India.
This expansion is a strategic part of the company’s long-term plan to establish a future-ready, sustainable, and efficient supply chain across the country. The facility now features a state-of-the-art automatic ink dispensing system integrated with Siegwerk’s SAP platform, enabling inline mixing, accurate ingredient loading, and full traceability. Capable of handling batch sizes from 20 to 200 kg with one-gram precision, the facility can now blend approx. 2,400 tonne of ink annually.
The upgrade aligns with Siegwerk’s Rs 350 crore investment strategy in India over the next three years and supports sustainability goals by reducing manual handling, enhancing safety, and optimising resource use. With this milestone, Siegwerk reinforces India’s role in its global operations and plans to replicate similar automation models across other Indian facilities.
