Union Power Minister RK Singh recently assured the Arunachal Pradesh government of the clearance of an investment of Rs 32,000 crore on the proposed 2,880 MW Dibang hydroelectric project.
Other than helping India reducing its carbon emission the hydel power project would also ensure flood moderation in Arunachal Pradesh. The state has already reformed the land acquisition process to ensure immediate disbursement of legitimate land compensation to the project affected people.
In the meantime, the state has also requested the Union Power Minister to clear the 29 central PSUs and private hydel power projects with a total generation capacity of 32,000 MW. These projects would bring in a total capex of around Rs 5 lakh crore into the state.
