The Patna metro rail project made a crucial forward step as it witnessed the placement of the first U-girder span between two pillars near the proposed Bhoothnath Station, on 26th January, 2023.
A total of 308 such U-girders will be installed in the 7.4 km-long priority corridor, which is part of the elevated section of the proposed Corridor II, extending from Patna junction to Patliputra bus terminal.
Around 30 percent of the work pertaining to the elevated section has been completed comprising five stations - Malahi Pakri, Khemnichak, Bhoothnath, Zero Mile and Patliputra Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT).
The estimated cost of Patna metro project is Rs 13,365.77 crore. The financial structure involves 20 percent of the project cost to be borne by the state government, 20 percent by the centre and the remaining 60 percent to be borrowed as loan from Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA).
