Patel Engineering (PEL), a Mumbai-based infrastructure company, has been declared the lowest bidder (L1) for two micro irrigation projects worth Rs 1,265 crore from the Water Resources Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh, and Visvesvaraya Jala Nigam (VJNL), respectively.
The scope of work for the Sher irrigation project works in Madhya Pradesh includes the survey, investigation, design, and construction of SHER dams (four dams), as well as all ancillary works such as rising/gravity main and pipe distribution network works. The project is valued at Rs 998.75 crore.
The Sher irrigation contract is scheduled to be completed in 60 months and includes management, operation, and maintenance (MOM) for another 60 months after completion. The project will be executed in a JV, with PEL holding 35 percent of the shares.
Similarly, Tumkur Branch Canal Project-III in Karnataka entails surveying, designing, supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning micro irrigation systems. The contract is valued at Rs 266.38 crore.
The Tumkur Branch Canal project is anticipated to be completed in 24 months, after which the company will perform operations and maintenance for another 60 months. The project will be executed through a JV in which PEL will hold 51 percent of the shares.
Recently, PEL was declared L1 bidder for four other irrigation projects in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka.
