PTC India, a power trading solutions provider, has commenced power supply from the Nikachhu hydroelectric project in Bhutan to Assam under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) executed in 2014.
The agreement signed with Bhutan and the power sale agreement (PSA) with the Distribution Company of Assam (APDCL) marks a significant milestone in the bilateral energy trade between India and its neighbouring countries. APDCL executed this PPA considering the long-term need for an uninterrupted and cost-effective power supply.
The 118 MW (2x59 MW) hydroelectric project will also supply power during peak hours, providing a vital resource to meet the state’s increasing energy demands. This project will cater to the growing energy demands of the state.
Moreover, the project received support from the Ministry of Power, Central Electricity Authority (CEA), National Load Dispatch Center (NLDC), CTUIL, and DGPC in facilitating this landmark power supply initiative.
