Tata Motors has launched its first Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The Re.Wi.Re (Recycle with Respect) facility was inaugurated by Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari on 28 February, 2023.
It has a capacity of scrapping 15,000 end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) per annum.
The facility will undertake dismantling of end-of-life passenger and commercial vehicles of all brands, while ensuring adherence to environmentally-friendly processes. Its operations are supported by a digitalised system along with dedicated stations for safe dismantling of components such as tyres, batteries, fuel, oils, liquids and gases.
The mechanism involves a stringent documentation and dismantling process, curated individually as per passenger and commercial vehicle requirements.
The minister stated that the quality facility is at par with global standards for phasing out unfit and polluting vehicles and to achieve a lower carbon footprint. The national vehicle scrappage policy promotes a circular economy through greener and more fuel-efficient vehicles, he highlighted.
This is a move towards making India a vehicle scrapping hub for the entire South Asian region by adding more such scrapping and recycling units.
The facility is developed and operated by Tata Motors’ partner Ganganagar Vaahan Udyog.
