Japan-based NTT, has committed an investment worth 2.5 billion USD over the next five years in Maharashtra. The technology major had signed an MoU with the state government at Davos in January, 2023 to this effect, taking its overall investment pool to over 4.5 billion USD across India.
NTT will be launching six additional data centres over the next three months. The India operations account for the company's global revenue to the extent of three to four percent. Moreover, India is the eighth largest market for the company in terms of revenue, which is in the range of 500 million USD to 1 billion USD.
The company already has 11 data centres operational in India, with an employee base of over 37,000 employees, which is the largest outside of NTT’s Japan business.
The company is also looking at private network deployments by NTT once the Indian regulations are in place with respect to spectrum leasing.
NTT is a subsidiary of NTT Group, the third largest data center company in the world.
