Mumbai will get its first travelator connecting Mahalaxmi railway station with Sant Gadge Maharaja Chowk Monorail station.
At present, travelators are only installed inside the airports which are convenient for air-travellers who also carry luggage.
The authorities had thought of extending the monorail up to Mahalaxmi station and upcoming Metro 3 underground station and are now going ahead with the plans to bridge this distance by travelator.
The travelator will be approximately 500 mtr long and will have two tracks of 3 mtr width for bi-direction movement of passengers. The cost of installing the travellator will be Rs six crore.
