The Ministry of Coal has announced the launch of the monetisation process for Dugda coal washery in Bokaro district of Jharkhand. Bharat Coking Coal's (BCCL) washery of two mtpa capacity is currently not in operation and will be auctioned.
Monetisation will be held through a competitive auction process and will be awarded to potential steel manufacturer. The successful bidder is expected to design, build/ renovate, operate & maintain, and transfer the washery. The washery will be awarded to the bidder along with the coal linkage on the basis of the highest premium paid for the coal quantity.
The move is expected to streamline operations and promote innovation in coal beneficiation techniques. Moreover, it will enable BCCL to leverage its expertise in coal mining and processing. It aligns perfectly with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, by promoting self-sufficiency in coking coal production and energy security, while stimulating economic activity, and fostering job creation in the region.
