Microsoft Corporation recently acquired 48 acres of land in Hyderabad for a deal valued at around Rs 267 crore. Microsoft plans to expand its data centre business and will establish one of the biggest data centres in the region.
The property, located about forty km from the main city of Hyderabad, was purchased from the land aggregator, Sai Balaji Developers in Ranga Reddy district. The Hyderabad data centre region will be an addition to the technology company's existing network of three regions covering Pune, Mumbai, and Chennai. These have been operational for five years.
Microsoft had also acquired two more land parcels in Hyderabad for the data centre business. Microsoft currently operates an India Development Centre (IDC) on 54-acres of land at Hyderabad, as well as in Bengaluru and Noida. The IDC has been key to the development of Microsoft's technological offerings, such as Azure, Windows, Office, and Bing.
Additionally, over the past two years, the organisation has been increasing its presence in the flexible office space segment throughout India.
