Kone Elevators India has set up a research and development facility (R&D) facility including a elevator test tower and labs at its manufacturing complex in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai.

The state-of-the-art facility has the capability to test various speeds, new high and mid-rise solutions and laboratories for the elevator and escalator components testing. The tower has been set up by Kone Technology Centre, which is also responsible for R&D.

The test tower and R&D testing processes and equipment will be used for running quality and reliability tests to deliver the highest safety, quality products and solutions. The facility's design enables it to receive sufficient sunlight and harness energy through the solar panels installed on the rooftop of the unit.

This innovative move will bolster Kone's presence in the global market, and make way for robust growth in the elevator industry.
