Kirby Building Systems India recently inaugurated its new Kirby plant in Halol, Gujarat. The pre-engineered steel building (PEB) manufacturing facility is the company’s third plant in India, and seventh globally.

The new plant is spread over an area of 1,14,000 sq mtrs and will have an initial annual production capacity of 50,000 tonne which is expandable to 1,00,000 tonne. It will supplement the overall current 2,00,000 tonne capacity of the company's Hyderabad and Haridwar plants. The site is expected to create hundreds of new direct and indirect jobs.

The new plant is awarded with Platinum Rated Green Factory Building by Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), making it the first PEB facility in India to achieve the highest platinum rating. It boasts of high air changes, solar-powered LED lighting, roofing with high solar reflectivity index and water harvesting, among other sustainable features.
