Spanish bio-innovation major Kimitec has entered into a strategic partnership with FIL industries based in Kashmir to transform the apple fruit industry in India. The companies addressable market of this partnership is around USD 30 million in the next five years.
The partnership aims to transform the horticulture sector in India , leveraging opportunities in the area of agro-waste management. They will work towards creation of a circular economy for bio-stimulants and smart fertilisers derived from such processes.
India will be the largest producer of bio-waste in 2030 and the FIL-Kimitec partnership will focus on upcycling waste management. FIL is a leading apple integrator in the country, and a provider in the agri-consumer value chain. Kimitec's technologies will help FIL to work on this and other projects on a national scale.
With apple as the main focus of this partnership in the first phase, both the partners will harness their potential to bring in revolutionary changes in the apple industry in J&K and other parts of India, which will increase the quality and quantity manifold.
Kimitec, which extracts molecules from biowaste, has now introduced AI platform LINNA to accelerate discovery of new molecules.
