Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL) has received BIS certification to manufacture India's first fire-resistant steel structures at its rail mill in Chhattisgarh. The fire-resistant steel structures will be manufactured at the company's Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, unit.

The new steel structures will assist the country to minimise its reliance on imports. Steel structural steel of BIS 15103 grade is designed to withstand temperatures of up to 600 degrees celsius for three hours.

JSPL will target segments such as refineries, bridges, metro projects, industrial structures, steel, power plants, hospitals, and commercial and residential buildings by producing a special steel item for the first time in India.

Fire-resistant steel will offer vital assurance to fire safety, leading to a safer AtmaNirbhar Bharat.

JSPL, a subsidiary of the OP Jindal Group, is a global industrial powerhouse with a dominant presence in the steel, mining, and infrastructure sectors, with investments totalling USD 12 billion.
