Jindal Stainless (JSL) has partnered with Renew Power to set up its 300 MW captive hybrid energy project for supplying power its steel mill in Jajpur, Odisha.
The hybrid non-conventional power project is expected to be commissioned by May 2024 and according to company sources, would reduce carbon emissions by more than 6.5 lakh metric tonnes per year. JSL’s goal is to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
JSL is also planning to set up a green hydrogen plant with Hygenco India Private as part of its green initiatives.
At present, JSL is in the process of expanding its annual melt capacity, which will reach 2.9 MT by the end of FY23.
