Infopark and Kochi Metro Rail (KMRL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to build IT workspaces at the Ernakulam South Metro station.
As per the MoU, flexible workspaces will come up on 39,880 sq. ft. of area across six floors of the metro station, and generate work opportunities for 500 persons. The format will include premium workspace and co-working space models, complemented by mobility and modern office amenities. The construction of office facilities and operations are expected to start by October next year.
The novel space will also be suitable for gig workers and women employees. In addition to office facilities, other features like pantry area, event space, and parking area are also included. Moreover, integrating multiple modes of transportation would also ensure more convenience and safety. Premium workspaces will attract employees of multinational companies (MNCs) who might be working from home.
This would be a pivotal step in the IT expansion of Kerala and encourage increased adoption of collaborative spaces in the region.
