The work on business jet terminal at Cochin International Airport (CIAL) is nearing completion and its inauguration is likely to be held in December 2022.
As much as 90 percent of the work on the terminal has been completed, which will feature five-star facilities for chartered flight passengers in both international and domestic sectors.
CIAL is converting the old domestic terminal, T-2. The work will be soon finished, there were many other procedures, including the inspection by bureau of civil aviation security before the commissioning.
The plan is to ensure the optimum utilisation of available areas attached to the operating terminals by converting T-2 into three utility blocks as part of the business jet terminal consisting of a VVIP safe house and a budget transit hotel.
Moreover, 30 percent of one lakh sq ft T2 will be used for Block-I which will be converted as the business jet terminal with three lounges.
The business jet terminal will have facilities like conference halls, lounges, restaurant, and personalised luggage handlers.
Block-II will have an area of 10,000 sq ft and is earmarked for a VVIP safe house to ensure a hassle-free movement of passengers.
Additionally, the work of the budget transit hotel is yet to begin. CIAL is planning to build 50 budget rooms for the passengers who intend to short-stay at the airport.
