Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has signed a technology transfer agreement (TTA) with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) for a 50 kW alkaline electrolyser system which will assist in hydrogen production. BARC's technology is indigenously developed, with high local material content.
BHEL, which has inked collaborative pact with BARC, intends to scale up the alkaline electrolyser technology and commercialise it. It has application in sectors such as refineries, fertiliser, steel, transportation, and others.
This would be a step further in BHEL’s contribution to the ‘National Green Hydrogen Mission’ and ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’. BHEL had recorded revenue from operations at Rs 8,260.25 crore during Q4/FY24.
