The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) laid the foundation stone to build Shivaram Karanth in early January 2023, and the State government already approved the project, which costs approx. Rs 5,337 crore in the year 2022.
The BDA already issued a letter of acceptance (LOA) to nine construction firms for the developing basic infrastructure work across nine blocks/sectors of the layout. The work orders are yet to be issued.
The layout work comprises the formation of sites, construction of roads, roadside drains, cross drainage works, storm-water drain, and rainwater harvesting protection works, including utilities such as water supply, UGD and electrical works.
The proposed layout in North Bengaluru covers over 17 villages involving Harohalli, Avalahalli, Ramagondanahalli, Kempanahalli, Jarakabande Kaval, Doddabettahalli, Vaderahalli, Ganigarahalli, Kempapura etc. The BDA intended to acquire over 3,200 acres of land, and as buildings take up most places, the authority will be able to cover only 2,500 acres.
The nine agencies involved in the infrastructure work estimated between Rs 216 crore and Rs 280 crore are NCC, Amrutha Constructions, STAR Infratech, RNS Infrastructures, BSCPL Infrastructure, RMN Infrastructures, SRC Infra Developers, Ramalingam Construction and BSR Infratech.
