Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a world-class urban centre project, at Jagiroad near Guwahati, which aims to decongest the city and increase the scope for employment opportunities.
In a bid to transform the state, the CM informed that the proposed satellite township will cater to the needs of the employees of the upcoming semiconductor plant and also decongest the capital city. He stated that Jagiroad is an upcoming tech-manufacturing hub, and suitable to establish a futuristic and sustainable city.
The government will help establish it as an integrated township with all amenities, within the state capital region, along with seamless rail, road and air connectivity factored in. This would lead to the decongestion of Guwahati, which is already coping up with a burgeoning population.
According to the CM, the Global City, Jagiroad will accomodate thousands of employees who will be working at the upcoming semiconductor unit.
