Consumer medical firm Arcatron Mobility has raised growth capital from OrbiMed, a global healthcare-focused investment firm. The funds will be utilised for ramping up research and development (R&D) efforts, new product development, and improving branding and marketing initiatives.
Arcatron offers mobility assist devices under its flagship brand 'Frido', across e-commerce platforms, its website, and over 1,000 stores across India. These devices comprise wheelchairs for patients with limited mobility, orthopaedic insoles and ergonomic cushions for pain relief and comfort enhancement.
The investment is a catalyst for expanding in these areas and increasing its reach to more customers.
OrbiMed has recently raised around USD 4.3 billion to invest in healthcare startups in the Asian continent. As a dedicated healthcare investment firm, Orbimed's portfilio includes Asian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), which is operated by Blue Sapphire Healthcare, Kapiva, Bharat Serum, tertiary hospital chain KIMS, among others.
