The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) has cleared the decks for setting up the steel plant in Kadapa as it has issued Consent for Establishment (CFE).
The Board has cleared the CFE after scrutinizing all relevant applications. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy had laid the foundation stone for Kadapa Steel Plant in December 2019.
The total estimated cost of the project is Rs 16,986 crore. The steel plant is being set up with a total production capacity of three million tpa.
The total water requirement will be met from Gandikota reservoir with 84.7 MW to be managed through the captive power generation. The steel plant project secured environmental clearance in March 2021.
