French consumer electronics major Thomson, which operates in India through its brand licensee Super Plastronics (SPPL) has announced an investment of Rs 200 crore, primarily for setting up a washing machine plant.
The plant will be set up to manufacture semi-automatic washing machines. Besides, the company is also collaborating with Flipkart for its newly launched series of TVs and washing machines to ensure online availability and purchase options for consumers.
With this investment, the company looks to deepen its presence in the category further with new products and technology-driven offerings.
On 25 May, 2023, Thomson launched an all-new FA series TVs with Realtek processor, Google TVs, and a series of semi-automatic washing machines in nine kg, 10 kg, 11 kg and 12 kg categories.
Further, Thomson has planned a huge lineup of 25 models for the launch to be spread over the year. The brand, which re-entered the Indian market in 2018 with smart TVs, has expanded into several verticals since then.
