The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) in a meeting held on 24 May, 2023 has approved the proposal for signing memorandum of understanding (MoUs) with three public sector units (PSUs) to expand public charging facilities for electric vehicles (EVs). These are namely, Rajasthan Electronics and Instrument, Keltron (a Government of Kerala undertaking), and HLL Infra Tech Service.

Selective locations for installation of public EV charging stations will be provided to PSUs in the initial stage and further allocation of sites will be decided based on the performance parameters of PSUs, as per the proposal passed by NDMC.

The infrastructure will be set up after a survey of feasible sites, and the project will be implemented under the National Electric Mobility Programme (NEMP). The civic body has installed electric charging stations at 100 locations for four-wheelers after signing an MoU with Energy Efficiency Services (EESL), wherein NDMC had provided space, power connection and permissions.

The selected PSUs are expected to provide seamless facilities across the NDMC area, and the installation and commissioning of the charging stations and related infrastructure would be taken up as per requirement and by mutual decision between NDMC and the PSUs at a later stage.
