A heliport will be set up in Sector-84 of Gurugram to boost air connectivity and take forward the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), whereby various cities in Haryana will be connected with the northern states.
The plan was announced by Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala during a meeting of officers of Pawan Hans, Air India, and the state aviation department in New Delhi.
The process for setting up the heliport is in the final stage. It will be located along the Dwarka Expressway in Gurugram.
The heliport will include a terminal for 100 passengers. Key features include a runway of 300 meters, six landing spots, and various facilities such as hangars, parking, and repair areas.
The development will lead to a reduction in aviation traffic in Delhi and surrounding areas and provide another option for Delhi’s air space.
Under RCS, the central government plans to initiate aviation connectivity between the cities of the northern states of India from Hisar, Ambala, and Karnal. The routes envisaged under this scheme include Hisar to Jaisalmer, Jaipur, Agra, and Ambala to Varanasi and Gorakhpur.
