Grasim Industries, a flagship company of Aditya Birla Group, is set to start commercial production of its paint venture in Punjab soon. The industry has completed the construction of its integrated paint manufacturing unit at HiTech Valley in Dhanansu village of Ludhiana.

Set up at a cost of Rs 910 crore, this paint unit has commenced its trial run. It is expected to generate employment for  2,000 people, with work opportunities for 500 persons directly, and for 1,500 persons indirectly. On the commencement of commercial production, the development would act as a catalyst to boost industrial activity in the region.

The Ludhiana plant is one of the six plants being set up by the company across the country. The plant boasts best-in-class safety and environment protection systems having zero-liquid discharge.

Last year, Grasim Industries had launched its paints business under the brand name ‘Birla Opus’. Grasim Industries started construction of the plant on 61 acres in December 2022.
