Taiwan-based Foxconn has secured an order to make AirPods for Apple and plans to build a manufacturing plant in India with an investment of more than Rs 20 crore in the new India AirPod plant in Telangana.
The contract electronics maker will become an AirPod supplier for the first time, through its subsidiary, Foxconn Interconnect Technology. The company plans to start construction of a manufacturing facility in Telangana in the second half of 2023 and begin production by 2024-end, at the earliest.
Foxconn is the world’s largest contract electronics maker and assembler of around 70 per cent of all iPhones.
